why yahoo is not popular search engine

I don't like it because of its search results.

because google provides better result compare to other search engine.

It's not as popular as Google because it relies heavily on OnPage Optimization vs popularity ( back links ) the result is a SE that doesn't leverage it's users well, and becomes more of a directory, much like Bing. Google has a nice algorithmic mix of On page and Off page elements.

Yahoo may be popular, if Google were not in Search world.

i like the yahoo start page, has a good mix of news etc. yahoo is even bigger than google in japan! #1 search engine there
