    Default Security issues using iframe?

I am wondering if anyone could possibly explain the security issues with the iframe. If we are connecting to a website that is running on https protocol through an iframe, will the communication still be safe because on the website that contains the iframe, url does not change to https.

and what are the other methods of incorporating external website into another, such as server side includes, using cURL in php etc?

Thank you so much in advance.

    Cheers

Since you will be putting code inside your page as an iframe there is no security issue for you.
Iframes are just pages inside pages. Moreover since you are saying that the iframe is coming from another domain you don;t need to worry for potential javascript xss/injection attack that ma occur, since an acces denied woudl arise if a js call from one element to the iframe element happened.
The only think you should worry is if they decide one day that they don't allow to you to put their aspx page in your iframe, they could prohibit that since the would see traffic coming from your site and block this traffic

Its too big an issue to be explained in 1 line. I think it will be important to know which kinds of iframe's issues you need to know about along with the intention of using it. Whether you need to build something and you need iframe related issues sorted out or are you doing some testing/vulnarability assessment. However a couple of good links are:thespanner.co.uk/2007/10/24/iframes-security-summary; developer.mozilla.org/En/Displaying_web_content_in_an_extension_without_sec urity_issues

I don't think iframes are bad for seo or site content. When I submitted my site or placed ads that the search engines also picked up on this content. I am sure though the iframe is also good for the orginating link.

It seems ads and search engines pick up on the content even embedded within your website.

There is a big draw back with iframes though. They cannot resize automatically. You have to specify a size and if iframe source is a series of pages, your users might get really frustrated. Although this issue can be resolved using JavaScript, it is still very tricky one.
