I have a web hosting business and lately my clients using osCommerce and various CMS programs are getting their sites hacked. I believe their home or office system are actually infected and causing their FTP software to give out their login profiles.
So my question is—Is it the responsibility of the host or the hosting client to protect their websites?

both are responsible for that. Now a days there are so may security service provider in the market to secure your website from hackers. I strongly recommended to use PCI Compliance, or PCI DSS Standard, or Trustwave Enterprise SSL certificates to make your website secure and safe from the hackers !!

If your hosting Biz is on a VPS or server, it could be your fault for not securing it probably. If you resell, then you are NOT to blame- talk to the company you resell off.
