Please help with linux server admin question?
Hi,
recently I found this commands in my error_log, can someone tell me is my linux box under attack?
sh: /ifconfig: No such file or directory
sh: /ifconfig: No such file or directory
sh: /ifconfig: No such file or directory
sh: /uptime: No such file or directory
sh: /id: No such file or directory
I have very strong password and no one can access my box, how do they exe those commands?
Please kindly help thanks.

ipconfig is used to set or read the network interface configuration,
uptime shows how long the system has been online since the last reboot,
It looks like someone has found a guest account and is probing your system to determine what distro you are running. The commands aren't actually running because the directory in not in the user PATH.
It could be from a script that is misconfigured, but to get these errors the script would run in userland.
