Default Setting up Linux Web Server in Windows Domain?

Hi. I'm considering installing a linux web server in our office. Currently we have 4 static IPs with 1 dsl line which is connected to our Windows 2000 server machine for networking.

I'm completely new to linux, and wondering how I can deploy the linux web server in this environment. Is it possible at all? If so, what would be the deployment plan? If there are some resources which I can learn from, it would be great. Thank you in advance.

If Linux needs to become a part of this network, then you need to do something about it. However, if you're just using it as a web server and if there is essentially no interaction between that and other machines in the office, there is not much else to do other than installing Linux, a web server and running it in your office ...

    Hi guys

If you are new to Drupal and Apache, these instructions will walk you through most of the things you need to do, to get Drupal up and running on Linux or Windows. I haven't covered the details of setting up a database in MySQL with phpMyAdmin, but I do show you how to configure Apache so that this works. For the Linux instructions the file paths are typical for SuSE Linux 10.1 - for most other Linuxes the htdocs path is likely to start at a different place, but the principles are the same.
We will assume you want to make a local installation on a Windows PC and an installation reachable via the Internet on a Linux server.

    Thanks for all friends

You can definitely setup a server in your small office, using Samba to copy the files on the server to serve (or FTP). Make sure that you have a static IP address in your office though, otherwise your Linux server won't be able to serve outside requests on the Internet.

What sort of industry are you in? Linux has some great LAMP software available for things like document management, marketing mailing, etc.
