...make a virtual machine (vmware)? I have a server running Slackware 11, it's a webserver/subversion/file server. I'd like to clone the installation and make a VMware virtual machine so I can try things on the virtual machine instead of breaking that (I tend to learn the hard way hehe). On Ubuntu/Debian I would just dump all the installed packages with apt and import that then copied the config files - but with slackware not having a central packaging system (i know about slapt-get and that, but there aren't many packages for either, so most everything is compiled from source) Is there a way to clone this installation, e.g. have a virtual machine set up with the same web-server, php, mysql, etc. configurations?
