    Post Web Hosting Backups

It is always better to invest in a web hosting company that offers backup solution for your web site. The following are some of the common reasons that confirm the need of web hosting backup plans.

    * In case the hard drive of your server machine fails due to any reason.
    * Web hosting backups is necessary in case you delete all your data accidentally, or if the database gets infected by any virus.
    * Often many people ignore the necessity of keeping a back up of their server hard drive while reloading an operation system.
    * Web hosting backups are absolutely essential if you are using a shared server. There are many instances where a single account of a shared hosting server has crashed the entire server.
    * Keeping back ups for web hosting are also essential if you are planning to change your web hosting service provider.

Totally agreed. Backing up is a must have and thank god my host offers CPanel which is pretty easy to use for back ups.You just download this zipped package from CPanel with all of your data and you upload it when you want to back up! Voila!Every host should have it!

If your data is important don't solely rely on the included network backup from your provider (in the case of shared hosting accounts). Do your own backups of your website as well, ultimately you are responsible for your own data.

    Hi

CPanel are the most easier to backup, you can use the backup and restore feature to carry out data files and database backup at anytime. And for ix web hosting h-sphere, you can login ix web hosting control panel to export database for backup purpose. Alternatively, in recent year there is an online backup service that you can subscribe to, and your web files and database can be backup at remote backup server, this ensure extra protection against data lost.

    Thanks

    Hi
Say you have some 5 GB of critical data (photos, documents, program installers, etc) on an hard drive that you want to save to an offsite location. You can either copy these files to an external hard drive and put it safely in a bank locker or better still, subscribe to any of the web based data backup services.

EMC Mozy, one of the most popular online backup services, charges $4.95 per month for unlimited storage. Rival Carbonite also lets you can store unlimited data for a flat annual fee of $50. Then there’s Amazon S3 where you pay 15¢ per GB of storage space per month plus an additional 10¢ per GB of data transferred (one time fee).

Now compare these rates with that of a web hosting company like Dreamhost where you can rent 500 GB of web server space for $120 per year – apply a $100 discount coupon code and the storage cost works out to be just $20 per year. This seems to be the best option but before you run that rsync utility, read the policy:

"The customer agrees to make use of DreamHost Web Hosting servers primarily for the purpose of hosting a website. Data uploaded must be primarily for this purpose; DreamHost Web Hosting servers are not intended as a data backup or archiving service."

Robyn Peterson, chief technology officer for Ziff Davis Media, was looking to store some 250 GB of his personal data online and opted for a web hosting company that offered server space at rates comparable to that of Dreamhost.

    Thanks

Yeah, we keep on-server AND remote backups but always encourage clients to keep their own. Backups are rotated everyday and you never know if you want something from a few minutes or few hours ago.

One of the most popular online backup service with unlimited storage fee per month $ 4.95. Competitors worry you can also make unlimited data storage for a flat $ 50 annual fee. Customer agrees to use DreamHost's virtual host server, mainly for the purpose of organizing a website. Data uploaded must be primarily for this purpose.

Imagine waking up, and data on your primary hard drive has been lost due to hardware failure, hackers or even a disgruntled employee deleting vital information... The reality of the Internet is that even with multiple levels of redundancy, data can still be lost. Ideally, your company should have at least two backup sources, which are maintained on a regular basis. So, the question should not be, "Do I Need Backups", but rather, "How Many Backups Do I Need". Although the answer varies, depending on the nature of your company's data, ensuring two backup sources for all critical data is a minimum requirement in protecting the vital data that your company has spent thousands, even millions to build and maintain.
