I have listed in some other directories but have not seen any appreciable change in PR or webtraffic. I realize that not every directory is equal and that the ones I listed in may not have sufficient traffic, but the PR of their listing pages was good. To your knowledge, does a paid link from a directory like Aviva do any good for your PR or does Google discount such links.

i submitted my sites to some directories last month some of them approved my links while some have to still approve, as of now i don't see any traffic coming from directories. As far as PR is concerned i have heard getting listed on high PR directories does help.
