Static website is written in simple HTML and doesn't need any database to store pages or datas whereas dynamic websites are written in more complex codes such as ASP.NET,PHP, etc. and requires database server to store data. Dynamic website has the personalize view for individual users whereas it is not the case in static website.

A static website is developed using HTML codes only. It has no interactive features, external files or databases connected to it. The only way to edit these files is through a web code editing application or software such as dreamweaver or notepad. Static websites are simple in comparison to dynamic websites. Dynamic websites, in turn, consist of a more complicated coding system such as php, asp, ruby, perl, etc. A content management system is commonly used with dynamic websites in order to enable editing of content with ease from anywhere. Files are generated on dynamic websites through databases or external files.

    Static Web sites:
Static Websites are designed by using HTML language It cannot add edit or delete the data because there is no any database in the static website.
    Dynamic websites:
Dynamic websites are complex and the code is written in ASP and PHP language. we can add, edit and delete the data when it is connected with the data base.

Static mean we make changes only at the time of developing. And in dynamic we make change when we have required it.Static website cheapest to develop and and dynamic website expensive to develop.

    Static website:-
    1.Quick to develop
    2.Cheap to develop
    3.Cheap to host

    Dynamic website:-
    1.Much more functional website
    2.Much easier to update
3.New content brings people back to the site and helps in the search engines
4.Can work as a system to allow staff or users to collaborate

Static sites are HTML programmed only. Dynamic ones have advance programming (i.e. Java, PHP, ASP). That's why dynamic sites look more "lively" than static sites.

For amateurs, static sites are ideal practicing grounds and as stepping stones for making dynamic sites in the future.

Static Web design: Static design shows required information to the viewers but do not accept any information from the viewers. Static web pages are written in HTML.

Dynamic web design: Dynamic web design displays information to the users and also accept information from the user. It is developed by the developer who has strong knowledge of Asp.net, java, PHP and etc...It is required content management utilities and complex coding.

Static Websites:- A static site is a website that is written entirely using HTML. Each web page is a separate document and there are no databases or external files that are drawn upon.

This means that the only way to edit this type of website is to go into each page and edit the HTML. So you would have to do it yourself using a web page editor such as FrontPage or Dreamweaver, or pay your web developer to make updates for you.

Dynamic Websites:- A dynamic website is written using more complex code — such as PHP or ASP — and has a greater degree of functionality. For instance, many dynamic websites can be controlled by a content management system. This means that you will potentially be able to make updates without needing any knowledge of HTML or any website software.

Each page of a dynamic website is generated from information stored in a database or external file. And the content management system that you may use to maintain your website directly modifies this stored information.

A static website is created in HTML only and is easy to design, while a dynamic website is created on PHP, .net or any other server technology and are complex to design but very easy to update and maintain.
