    Default Problems with IE

    I have been coding my site and checking it with firefox and it looks great with the new design so far but when I checked it with IE I am having problems with how it is displaying and things are overlapping over others and I was wondering whether anyone could help me with fixing the css used on the site so that it displays properly on ie and firefox with using css, javascript and html.

    Any help would be much appreciated.

    give me the url .. and another clue let me give ya... code your site now on on basis off IE.. if your site looks perfect on IE or the way you want it.. then it should display correctly on most of the other browsers... what I am saying is.. make your changes looking at IE not at firefox..

    Yeah but I suspect that it has something to do with the css coding I am using.

    I want it to work the same way without having separate pages for both ie and firefox so it displays the same way.

    The website is always provided in my signature but just for completeness http://wired.profusehost.net. If you would need a copy of the sites code to look at let me know and I would need to email it to you but it is all up on the website at the current time just one or two pages to finish.

    Code:
    .style26 {
        position:absolute;
        left:128px;
        top:350px;
        right:500px;
        bottom:500px;
    }

    .style28 {
        position:absolute;
        left:550px;
        top:350px;
        right:100px;
        bottom:500px;
    Style 26 is used for Tutorial section and Style 28 is used
    for IT article section.. so you can try two things.. increase
    the right and left px rate.. which may end up in breakin your lay out..

    but to prevent it from breakin layout instead of plainly writing "
    There is a way to change the administrative password if you have forgotten your own password or the administrator password for Windows XP Home and Professional....<a href="joomla/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=24&Itemi d=31">Click here for more.</a> </p>"

    which is what you have now.. instead try inserting <br /> where you see apropriate.

    If the above fails pls come back and tell me what went wrong.. thanks.

    editing:

    man something is overlapping in every page... you should avoid using absolute position for everything.. unless you are really precise with measurements.. even then some other browser may view it differently.. so instead of using absolute positions.. just give the class looks not position... i.e. bold, blue, underline.. background, etc.. etc... then just build your site, as you go along insert the class for the looks and colours, do position without css,

    It makes me think that you used some kind of site builder, if so which one did you use.

    Before you go any further... try Mkportal, you can pluggin coppermine, your forum, and most of the things you want and use the same login... you know what... visit me site... www.swapnalokam.net my site.. see how it looks like.. I use SMF forum, you can use anything, coppermine, and you can make internal pages, as much as you want.. and it will all look the same.. so take a look at how it looks like.. ofcourse make backup before you do anything.. if you want help just ask me...

    Checked it with ie 6 and 7 and had no problems with the main home page http://wired.profusehost.net even though there was a problem before with the tutorial and it article text down the bottom.

    Please confirm if this has now been fixed and the images on the main robocup page should also be fixed. http://wired.profusehost.net/robocup/index.html

    Could anyone tell us a better why than using absolute css positioning to position things on a page as our cse google search engine is not being positioned in the right spot and was wondering if there was a way to fix this or is relative positioning better?

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Ok will check and fix tomorrow. I will finish my last three pages and then I will make the site using the relative tag. Once I have done that I will get you to check again.

    What size screen do you have Sticker??

    I think relative positioning would be better.

    Would love to hear any tips or tricks for css positioning if anyone knows any.
