Windows Vista has an e mail client called Windows Mail. It for all practical purposes replaces Outlook Express which had been the common e mail client for years.
I presume your old, fried, pc has a lot of stored e mail on the hard drive along with the address book, etc and you want to load this onto the new machine. If the old hard drive is readable you can do this. If the old hard drive is not readable you are out of luck.
I will assume the old drive is readable. Here is what you do in generic terms:
1. Set up Windows mail to send and retrieve mail from your mail server. You need to know your e mail address, smtp server, pop or IMAP server, password, and security settings that your mail server requires. If you do not have this info contact your e mail provider and he will provide this info.
2. After you can send and receive e mail, you import your e mail from the old hard drive. This requires you to put your old hard drive in as a slave in the new machine or to put the old drive in an enclosure with usb link and use the usb link to read over the files from Outlook express. The import info is provided in Windows mail help.
This has to be done carefully but it will work IF the old drive is readable. I suspect that the "fried" pc did not wreck the hard drive but this is not certain.
