Which budget laptop should I buy?

My VAIO has just died a horrible death and I need a new laptop. I don't want to pay much for it, as I paid a lot (£1700) for my Sony, and now feel thoroughly ripped off. I'm looking to spend £300-£400, depending on spec, on a new replacement laptop.

Any recommendations.

I'll be using it mostly for word processing, music and video. Also, I'd like one with a 6-pin firewire connection (but I don't HAVE to have one).

I think Sony Valo VPC-W115XG is the best laptop. It has many characteristic. I have this laptop and I like to use this laptop very much. You can buy this laptop in really affordable price.

Don't buy a cheap laptop. Find something in the mid-range. While cheap can be o.k. for certain products, that isn't the case for laptops. Bad fans and low quality hard drives will have you looking for a new laptop all to soon again. Good Luck.

why not try dell laptop computers..search for good laptop and not just cheap ones... buy laptop with good working condition, i love dell

You should go for Toshiba as per my opinion. I would recommend you to go for ToshibaSatellite L745-S4210 Laptop. You can choose Accer. Laptops of this brand is quite cheap.

To meet your requirements any available on the market today will do the job, but go for Toshiba or Dell. Best quality/money ratio.
