    Default Mobile Version

I think that we need a mobile version of the site that is easily viewed and used by mobile devices.

I tried viewing the site today on my mobile phone, a Nokia N95 and it took soo long for the first page to load that I gave up and waited until I got home to use the site.

What does everyone else think about this?

I like the idea. Infact I was thinking about the same. We'll have to work on a mobile optimized theme so users can access the site via mobile phones too.

    Hello
Before you dive into improving your site from a mobile perspective, it’s a good idea to check out how much of your traffic is actually coming from mobile devices. Using Google Analytics or something similar, take a quick peek at the browser breakdown just to familiarize yourself with this number. Then you can make an educated decision on how far to go with your mobile accommodation.
One thing to keep in mind is that if this number is super low, it might be partially due to the current poor state of your site on mobile devices. Make a decision regarding whether you want to simply improve the experience of your current mobile users or actively seek more mobile users by launching a dedicated mobile site, web app or iPhone app.

I do agree but I also think that it would be a good feature to have a mobile design, even just basic at first and then down the track it can be improved upon if the numbers are there to make it a reasonable site feature. This as you mentioned can then be easily monitored by such systems like Google Analytics.

Agree. On iphone it looks ok but a mobile version would be alright because you have to constantly zoom in and out.
