Am wondering about that too, in terms of how they gather traffic data. Google analytics is more on data metrics. With the search console, you can do more than gathering metrics. You can evaluate your site and you can use tools to improve your site as well.

Search Console is more on the internal issues and optimization while in Google Analytics is more on the behavior of the users and conversions.

Google Search Console is the main tool used in SEO. Google search console is the tool provided by Google for conducting a controlled search engine optimization process. Google defines search console as their Mock point to communicate with Google about the website and its pages. It is the main tool used in SEO to set country settings, submitting sitemaps, monitoring the search analytics, finding the crawl errors, HTML suggestions, keywords, impressions, Clicks, CTR, listing position etc.

Google analytics is a free website monitoring tool provided by Google. Using Google analytics, we can monitor our website traffic, nature of traffic, page spending time, nature of visitor, the location of the visitor, bounce rate etc.
