Default Do follow and No follow

I’ve come across this dofollow and nofollow topic quite several times in many forums and I’ve replied to them as per my knowledge. What I know is secondary, but I want to know clearly about the topic and how far they would impact in popularizing the website.

I am assuming that you know the benefit of links.

Links are divided into two parts - One is Do Follow and other one is No Follow. Search engines give the importance to Do Follow and in their eyes No follow means webmaster instructed search engine crawlers not to crawl that link.

In nutshell you wont get the benefit of No Follow.

Don't think that way. Due to some no follow sites can give you traffic. Even no follow blogs can send you some traffic in other way around no follow links do also give some importance. Just think of wikipedia.

A Dofollow link is a link crawlable by search engine. Dofollow is not a tag, its an attribute you simply don’t nofollow a link if you want it be dofollowed. A nofollow link on other other hand is one that will not be followed by a search engine robot/spider. This is accomplished by placing the rel="nofollow" attribute in an anchor tag.

Do follow has a lot of advantage than no follow sites. Google crawl only do follow sites.

Having the balance of links on your site (inbound links)
from do and no follow will help you more. If it's a quality site even though it's a no follow one you can link with it as long as it is relevant to your site. Most link builders only focuses and trying to get all the do follow inbound links in their sites that sometimes they do forget meaningful traffic coming from no follow sites. So don't ignore no follow links.

no follow links are not totally worthless: they can provide referring traffic and there is some evidence that some of the search engines track no follow links they just are not worth as much as do follow links of course.
