yes but they are all links and no content...moreover there is no niche...just jumbled up links.
directories have different categories and surrounding content too.
also directories are more careful about what sites they are linking too.
thats true, we need to get a confirmation on this whether google would treat Bid for positions as link farms or not

Ones with out categories are definately link farms as there is no relevance to the links. Most are now moving to real categories but only time will tell what Google thinks. I've stayed clear as it is obvious to me that you bidding to have your link appear at a stronger position. Google has said selling links with the purpose of manipulating search results will result in penalties. Regular directories avoid this as they are charging review fees and not selling links per se.
