SEM vs SEO

I really do not know I expect someone to explain this.

The best option to get good visitors is to have a high rank in search engines.In this way you will get organic traffic,targeted for your keywords.

search engine marketing is paid optimization while Search engine optimization is free, but for fast result one can try SEM if have budget.

I think SEM is better cause SEO takes a long time to effect as the search engines doesn't update site's rankings daily.

SEO refers to in most cases as the one off optimization or an optimization campaign. 'Search Engine Optimization'. SEM refers to the ongoing management of search engine optimization, normally for a third party or a company via contract. They do both get thrown around a lot though and pretty much mean the same thing as far as I am aware.
