First of all Alexa Rank doesn't matters ,but some give importance to it when you sell links or your site..
It is my personal experience you can easily increase your alexa rank just install alexa toolbar on your browser and set your site homepage and visits your site as much as you can in day..
You can check my site alexa rank ,linkmarking.com at present it has 38000 something . as for past 2 months i am not working on my site and visiting my site less it has dropped from 33000 to 38k something now...

Alexa raking is useless as traffic indicator.
I use Alexa rankings just to see the trends in my site and installing the toolbar on my own computer is just lie to myself.

Download alexa toolbar in your pc and tell your friend to download this and open your site. Because alexa only that visitor count which has download alexa toolbar.
