My site is indexed by Google, Yahoo, etc. If I move my site/domain to a new host/server, will it loss its ranking or will the links from existing search engine results not work anymore?

I don't know if search engines index by IP address or by vanity URL?

No it doesn't, except if your site is offline for a long time, then you can loss your search results rankings. However many different factors could effect the search results., make sure you stay hosting in the same geographical region.

You can move your files to the new host and once everything is set you can update your name servers. So you don't have any downtime nor you will lose any rankings.

Your site is recognized by search engines by it's URL, not by the hosting.
    Without any fear change it.

Changing hosting doesn't effect, but changing domain name would.

If the site is down for a long period you would see some changes in the rankings but once its back it would get back its rankings.

It might give some changes if your site is down for a long period of time because search engines are not indexing your site if it's down. But if you'll transfer it immediately, it will not affect your rankings.

Strangely enough when I switched from a Blogspot domain to a personal domain I didnt lose any of my Rankings or the SEO Work for Keywords. I guess this would only be the case when switching from a blospot to another domain URL ??
