I have used both and i can honestly it does not matter one jot. I would not hesitate to use a .net again.

I don't think so .com or .net effect SEO that much, but .com obviously is the best.,..

Right, .com is better extension than that of .net domain.

In my point of view the .com is better for SEO but it depends on the SEO persons that which technique is following.
