What is the best SEO tactics for the subpages of the site?

I doing SEO for a large site (20+ pages). What are the best practices in regards to the sub-pages of the site? Should I put keywords for sub-pages, and if yes how similar can they be to my home page keywords?

Submit your blog to search engines
Most people get the majority of their traffic from search engines. When people search for your keyword and find your site or blog, there’s more traffic.

Writing articles
Writing articles is a great, free way to promote your online business, and can bring in a substantial number of targeted customers to your site, usually within a few days. The key is to submit your article to as many databases and directories as possible.

Each site page should have different meta keywords, well of course depending on the topic.

Also build links for the inner pages (along with home page)...it will help

Using variants of your main targeted keywords on your inner pages would be OK. You would only target one smaller volume keyword for one inner page.
