How to Ping Search Engines?

I want to know that can we ping search engines after updating our websites.

1. Pinging the Search engines regularly is good or not from SEO point of view.

2. What methods is used for pinging the SEs?

Can anyone please explain how to use it accurately.

Is pinging the search engine good or not?
Can't you be penalized or something.

Use Pingomatic.com service. Its cool and it pings almost most of the services. Also you can use ping optimiser plugin if you own wordpress blog. It controls Pinging other services unnecessarily.

Pinging could be helpful specially if you have a new post in your site or blog , it informs the SE that a new page have been published and thus invites to revisit the site or RSS feed or sitemap-file .

You can try autopinger.com or ping-o-matic to ping your sites.

Pinging your website or blog is a good way to let search engines know that you have new content on your site. But don't over do it by pinging your site every now and then.

I just know some service for bloggers ping,if it is a website, i think you can add url to search engines or submit sitemap to them.
