    Default phpBB 3.0.RC1 released

    [size=3]phpBB 3.0.RC1 released[/size]

We are very pleased to announce the availability of the phpBB3 RC1 package. This is the first release candidate which is meant to become the Gold release if no more bugs or problems arise. Of course there may be more than one release candidate.

With this release we will give full support, allow uploading language packs as well as modifications and styles. Please note that during the first few weeks support questions may not be answered as fast as with the 2.0.x line.

No this is not a stable release.. as the name says.. this is just a candidate.. and support is limited.. so do not jump into this.. and crash your thing.. so wait.. until the stable one comes out..

I am currently using PHBB2 and it works quite well. Just trying to fix a mod I installed in it for earning some money. What is the difference between 2.x and 3.x other than one is stable and one isn't and one is newer. Once it becomes a stable release is it worth upgrading to the new version. What would be the benefits of doing this..

no I haven't fixed the errors I am having with the mod. The mod is called Inline Banner Ad version 1.0.3 by Geocater. When I go into the ad management settings in my admin panel and click on ad code I get the error
    Code:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '}' in /home/wired076/public_html/forum/includes/template.php(127) : eval()'d code on line 21
. I have been told that this is a template error with one of the template files but I am unsure which file to fix and edit as I haven't had much experience with .php files at all. The other error I get is when I click banner under Styles Admin in admin panel I get the error
    Code:
    General Error
    Couldn't obtain ranks data

    DEBUG MODE

    SQL Error : 1146 Table 'wired076_phpb1.BANNERS_TABLE' doesn't exist

    SELECT * FROM BANNERS_TABLE order by banner_spot

    Line : 668
    File : admin_banner.php
. I believe that I have created the table but am unsure how to do the rest of the steps to fix this issue.

Can anyone please help me with this issue.

The mod I installed was installed with Easymod but before that I did a manual install which was even more disastorous.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    The first error:
Parse error usually means a "Spelling Mistake" in php files it can include, extra spaces, unnecessary or missing ', ; etc.. So the best thing to fix is.. go to the specified line.. in this case line 21 .. and see what is there and if you know you missing somthing add it there.. even spaces can cause problems sometimes.. or reupload the original file.. i.e. a fresh new template.php and try modify it again...

    Second error:
look carefully if your db name is "wired076_phpb1.BANNERS_TABLE" if you created it ... or is something else... remember it is case sensitive.. and you can't belive you created it.. go to your mysql manager and see if the table is there physically... I think it is not there.. if it was then the error would be something else..

I hope this will fix the errors.. if not, feel free to come back and say what you did and what happened..

I made some adjustments to the template file and now I get this slightly different error
    Code:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '}' in /home/wired076/public_html/forum/includes/template.php(111) : eval()'d code on line 21
. What does the 111 in brackets mean? I deleted the parts of the code that were sitting there previously as it was just comments and stuff I didn't need to run the file.

Still trying to fix it. It's going pretty slowly.
