A Java applet is a small dynamic Java program that can be transferred via the Internet and run by a Java-compatible Web browser. The main difference between Java-based applications and applets is that applets are typically executed in an AppletViewer or Java-compatible Web browser. All applets import the java.awt package.

An applet is any Java program that extends the java.applet.Applet class.Applets are small programs that are embedded in web pages and are run on the viewers machine in a secured manner.Applets are designed to be delivered to Internet Web Browsers.

    Hi, Shivangi Panwar

An applet is any Java program that extends the java.applet.Applet class.

They are small programs that are usually embedded in a web page (via the <object> or (depreciated) <applet> tag) and are executed inside of the user's web browser, although they can be run as standalone applications with the appletviewer command (which is part of the standard JRE).

This is in contrast to a servlet, which extends java.servlet.http.HttpServlet and runs on the web server inside of a servlet container (Apache Tomcat is the de-facto standard). The servlet accepts incoming HTTP requests and generates a response to those requests. The response is typically HTML but potentially can be any valid MIME type.

    Emily

An applet is a little Internet-based program written in Java. The applet is also able to run in HTML. It is typically embedded in an HTML page on a Web site & could be executed from within a search Engine.
