Default Creating a photo based type of community project

I want to create a part to my site that I can allow particular people that I accept to go on my site to be able to add photos to the site for others to see or download and to get a collection together of heaps of peoples albums. Not like Myspace.

I want it to work for a particular thing e.g RoboCup team pictures and then I can choose who ad's to the site and contributes or whatever. Sort of like a wiki based thing where people can upload and download pictures from a particular event and view them.

Hope I have explained myself properly.

Does anyone know of software that can do this or how I can program a site to do this???

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

also.. if you have a forum.. most of the forums now allow to bridge coppermine i.e. use the same DB for permissions.. and authentication etc..

I have created coppermine and installed it at www.wired.profusehost.net/photogallery . It seems to be working fine and hopefully it will get some use at some stage as it seems to be a very good program with minimal additional unnecessary features...
