We are looking for a Java/RIA Architect Level Software Engineer on behalf of Fidelity Investments. This position is based in Boston, MA.
Summary
An exciting opportunity is available in the Development Tools and Frameworks (DTF) team of Fidelity Technology Group's Enterprise Technology and Architecture Group (ETAG). The individual will have the unique opportunity to influence and shape the Enterprise Rich Internet Application architecture and development program for Fidelity Investments. The ideal candidate will be well-informed and experienced in building business critical multi-tiered enterprise class business systems for the financial services industry. The general overall responsibilities will be comprised of RIA technology evaluation, guidance, tools & framework delivery and support. The results of these activities and findings will strongly influence the architecture and design of the many business unit systems throughout Fidelity.
Responsibilities
• Collaborate with key stakeholders from ETAG and business unit partners to define standard application infrastructure features
• Combine commercial, open-source, and custom-built software to suit infrastructure requirements
• Provide commercial-quality documentation, support and consulting service to assist business units in applying standard infrastructure tools
• Define and enforce adherence to architectural standards and best practices
• Proactively monitor RIA technology trends, standards, and open source initiatives
• A BS or MS in an engineering discipline and 8-10 years experience in development, deployment and production support of large-scale business critical software systems
• Superb analytical and design skills for RIA (Ajax or Adobe) and server side component development
• In-depth working knowledge of IE, Firefox and other popular web browsers
• Strong hands on experience with client technologies including DHTML, Ajax Toolkits (e.g. Dojo, YUI, Prototype), JavaScript, Flex, Flash and other well known client side frameworks
• J2EE development experience including servlets, JSP, JMS, JDBC, JCA, Web Services, and at least one major commercial-quality application server (WebSphere preferred)
• Significant exposure to supporting technologies including JSON, REST, XML and XSLT, relational databases and message-oriented middleware
• Exceptional oral, presentation and written communication skills
• A demonstrated appetite for self-directed education and professional development
• A background in financial services is a plus.
