PayPal is the faster, safer way to pay and get paid online. I will be using paypal for the past 5 years. I will be happy with their service.

With paypal - they assume all the risk of charge backs and fraudulence. They also maintain the secure server and take responsibility for protecting the consumer data. If you were to take all the credit card information and someone hacked into your system (very easy to do I understand) you would be responsible.
Also, there are no monthly fees with paypal. Regular CC processing charges you any where from $25 - $100 month minimums, plus you have to buy the machines and the gateway software if you so choose.
When I was faced with the option of using my own processing or using paypal, the choice was paypal.
They handle subscriptions, so I don't have to send multiple bills. They handle all sorts of transactions now, and the price is reasonable.
The only downside is that the money isn't deposited directly into your account. They hold it until you request it to be transferred. But I've done it several times and there has never been a problem.
I highly recommend it.

Factually, paypal is not a scam. But they are really making big money for their services.

I have used paypal for many years. I have loved them and I have hated them.

The simple fact comes down to this. If you are wanting to sell online and you are not accepting paypal payments, you are loosing sales, period. It is the biggest and most well known payment processor on the web.

There is a perceived security to many buyers and if you do not take it they will not buy. Secondly, if somebody has to go setup there bank account with some other payment service you want to use, trust me they will not buy.

The only other true option is using a credit card processor, however you will still pull more sales by offering both.

Paypal boasts almost a 100 million users, why would you not want to market to these folks?

Yes, some shady stuff happens with paypal from time to time and yes it has happened to me. The only people who I have ever met who stopped using paypal because they lost a few bucks or had a shifty buyer dispute were not selling enough to make a difference in the first place.

There are losses in any business in the world, if your not ready to write off some loss no matter what the cause, you may not be ready to take on your own business.

Again, not to be harsh, but this is the way I feel and what I have seen.

-Nick

Oh, and yes paypal does pay interest, you just have to have money in your account :-)
