Default Pay per click effectiveness

Is pay per click still effective? I have been using Google but there are times when my own monitoring system differs from theirs. I used the ROI (Returns of investment) software. I am just thinking PPC is not as effective now as it used to be. It is tough to regulate the clicks.

It depends on what your trying to promote. For example I tried promoting this forum through PPC, I got traffic no doubt but it doesn't convert. I did the same for my video downloading site and I'm getting a good number of returning traffic even today.

I just don'y believe in pay per click anymore. I see in it that there is a motive to click on link from publishers. search engine is one of the best I like. People access search engine website to look for products and services. I just can'y buy into pay per click.

The success of paid search depends on the following factors:

1. Market Research: The first thing you need to do is a market research, to find out whether this paid search is going to work for your site or not. Paid search is going to be useful only if a visitor can buy any product or any service from your site. If your site is all about information, doing paid search is wastage of money and effort.

2. Keyword Selection: As you are paying for each and every keywords, you should target those keywords that will give you loyal visitors in return. Irrelevant keyword will increase your cost and decrease your ROI. Through research and with the help of keyword suggestion tool you need to select proper keywords.

3. Landing Page: The page where visitor will land when he/she will try to reach your site is known as landing page. In case of Paid Search Campaign landing page can play a big role. Themed landing pages also prevent user distraction.

• The landing pages should be short, to the point and without too much of flashy animations and other design elements that might distract the focus of the user coming in.
• There should not be any navigation menu on the landing pages. We need to prevent the visitors from leaving the page and wandering to other areas of the site. Providing navigation to other pages of the site can make the user click on any other link, move to another page and exit.
• There should be a definite call to action button or contact us form placed on a prominent position on the page, so that visitors can contact the site easily.
• The content of the landing pages should be absolutely targeted and concise. People generally don’t read landing pages but scan through them. For this reason it is advised to place important statements and text at a higher position on the page. The content should primarily highlight on the features and the benefits of availing web services at the site.
• There should be a thank you page, which will acknowledge the receipt of the user contact information.
4. Adjustment in Ad copy and Bid amount: We should try different ad copies to figure out which suits best for our service. We should increase or decrease our bid amount to figure out which one will give us the best ROI.

Combination of all the above mentioned factors will surely give you success in PPC or Paid Search.

Paid search or PPC can feature your site in Search Engines within in a short time, if

a. You are ready to spent money for listing
b. If you have good research and analysis power, because these are two very important factors.

This is what I feel.
Correct me if I am wrong.

PPC is good if you need quick results but it works out much more expensive in the long-run.

PPC is very effective, but only for people who know what they are doing, and know how to track everything.
