what is alexa rank how it is different from page rank

Alexa measures the traffic and it shows the website popularity while page rank shows the site popularity in Google's view.

Alexa giving rank is depend on how much traffic comes to ur website when google Page Rank is counting by how many back-links to ur website.

Google PageRank and Alexa Traffic Rank are two different measures of a website's success. As you know, simply speaking, GPR measures the number of links to the site, while ATR measures the site's traffic.

Alexa rank is a system where a site's rank is determined by the traffic received by a site by people with Alexa toolbar installed whereas page rank designed by Google is largely based on link building.

Alexa is a different portal and using different methods to calculate site quality and it would use the algorithm of google.

Alexa ranks sites in their popularity, so when they say, for example that Googl.com is number 1, what that means is that the most popular site (i.e. used or visited the most) is Google.com. If you can get your Alexa ranking to under 100,000 then it means that you are the 100,000 most popular website on the internet, which is pretty good (unless you have a big commercial site, like Morgan Stanley or something).

Google use their measure, which is Page Rank or PR, it starts at 0 and goes up to 10. The authority sites will have PR of 6, 7, 8 etc. whilst new sites begin with a 0 when they are first indexed.

Google looks at the quality and quantity of a website's backlinks to determine the PR of the site, so the plan is to get backlinks from high PR sites, that are relevant to your niche. The more backlinks originating from these high PR sites, the higher your PR, and consequently the higher ranking you will gain.

I always use Alexa to measure my page rank, It's really nice,

Alexa Internet, Inc. is a California based subsidiary company of Amazon.com that is known for its toolbar and website. Once installed, the toolbar collects data on browsing behavior which is transmitted to the website where it is stored and analyzed and is the basis for the company's web traffic reporting.


Page rank can be calculated by the number of inbound links and quality of the links to a site. Alexa rank is the actual visit that is number of visitors to a site.
