Have hit an error while trying to test in that my testing hdd does not meet minimum requirements. Picking a pc up on monday as a testing rig so hopefully this may give me the requirements I need without formatting my 80GB hdd.

Tried a SATA HDD with AMD Ahtlon 3000 2.0 Ghz with 500 Mb's of ram and it says it can't detect the hdd even though it is in there and just makes me exit the install.

I believe that Microsoft should stop putting these types of ridiculous limitations on the products they make especially when they are RC- release candidates so that people can test them without having to spend $5,000 to be able to test the stuff.

They should make things work on all systems esp for testing and if there is a problem with the os like that they should spell it out in black and white before you spend ages downloading it and trying to step it up. I had the same problem with Windows Server 03 which doesn't install on a pc with less than 120 mb's of ram so that I couldn't test it either at the time and when I tried Vista as an RC they had the utter rudeness to make people download approxiametly 4 Gb's worth of data and then not tell them that it would only last for 13 days and they wouldn't give you an activation key only an installation key. So as such I have tested Vista and Server 03 with great difficulty and trying to make allowances for these pains.

Would love to see the day where Microsoft goes ok we are going to be straight with listing the minimum system requirements and if the system is less it will still run it but with less services, etc installed so only essential services can run on that install.

Give the user more choice and flexibility over their os otherwise you give some no choice but to pirate and hack Microsoft products so that they can use them the way they were supposed to be.

Why do you think you get a license to run software and not actually own a copy of the software outright because then the company could be held liable for things that go wrong or for the mis function of their software.


Therefore I will have to try again at another stage to install it but at this stage it is labeled as absolutely rubbish.

Who at home would have the minimum requirements that Microsoft wants to run this OS when their intended audience is home users who don't want to have to spend $4000 - $5000 to buy a compatible system to run the OS.

but i really dont understand why it says it cant detect your hdd, it could be some setting or some connection with the sata drive. check the connection and the settings once again also try to find if there anything else needed to get the sata drive to work.

hey try to install another OS.. regular ones.. xp or 98 see if it can detect the hdd.. we will see who is telling the lie..
