Default Forgotten your windows xp password. No trouble.. You can change it..

There is a way to change the administrative password if you have forgotten your own password. I do not recommend doing it on someone else's computer as that wouldn't be ethical or moral. I am only posting this here for people to fix their own coputers so they get full access to their pc again. I don't take responsibility for anything that goes wrong because you followed this post. You follow this at your own risk and the owners and administers of the forum also accept no responsibility.

    1. Restart your pc.
    2. Click F8 constantly to get to the boot menu.
    3. Select Safe Mode.
    4. Login to default administrator account. (I'm not responsible for users that create a password for this account)
    5. Create yourself a new admin account with a password.(Click start, control panel, user accounts).
    6. Reboot.
    7. Start up normally.
    8. Login into the new admin account.
    9. Click start, run and then type in cmd. (in this order)
    10. Click enter and wait for command prompt dialog box to appear.
    11. Type in net user (as it appears here)
    12. Click enter.
    13. Select the account you want to change the password to. (Whatever the account name is that you cannot access).
    14. Type net user account name * (replace account name with your account name, the one that you want to change the password to).
    15. Click enter.
    16. Type in new password.
    17. Click enter.
    18. Retype in password.
    19. Click ok.
    20. Log off.
    21. Log onto the account you changed your password to remembering to enter the new password you created.

If you already have a different user account you have access to you can skip right to step 7 instead of using the new admin account use the other account you have access to.

If you have trouble when following these steps post here and we will try and help. No guarantees.

This was adapted from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MNirPpo1WTc. The steps I have outlined above will be easier to follow I help and explain each step, leaving nothing to chance.

interesting but this would work only if there's no password set for the default admin account.

i will try this out today and see if it works.

It should also work for non-admin accounts as long as you have access to windows command prompt you're in luck. ;D

Yes, you can but this is a backup type situation so that for whatever reason you forget the password a second time you can still do these steps. If you have more than once account on your computer that can run and execute dos commands you need not even boot to dos. You can just use that account to change the password on the other account that is set up on your computer.

Let me know how it goes.

I have not tried this trick before. Few years ago I had faced this problem and I had to remove the battery to fix it. I want to try this trick but on my own PC
