UAV technology to override hijackers?

Is this being actively researched? This an interesting alternative presented as an answer to a current Answers question. The question was about shooting down hijacked aircraft.

Military grade remote control as an anti-terrorism tool. Seems to be easier to implement (ethically), than an option of shooting down an aircraft all together.

Is there any such program in development?

All u need is a little 9mm technology to stop a hijacker, if its in the pilot's pocket

if an anti-terrorism tool would really override hijackers instead of shooting down an aircraft all together its more humanized, isnt it?
