but here is one thing more i would like to add, if you are giving the answer to a post and your signature are of the same kind most of the people mostly click your site also.... so always try to submit signature that are according to the nature of forum...

In my opinion all back links are good for seo.
the popular one is forum signature, you should use it and in Forums you don't need to create topic you can answer questions and argue with people.
