Most people dont even think about the back link system they just use articles and forums but the fact is if you want to rank for any keyword and you are a new site you have to choose your keywords correctly first before you try and rank for them.

Go to ezine articles search for what ever niche you are trying to rank in so lets say dog training view 20 articles on each article
left click view source and view key words listed. Then go to google keyword tool put them in and find high volume low comp words that you have got from ezine. Next google the key words that you have chosen you should have 10 -20 words look at each page check to see if there are an authority sites on the page if yes move to another word. If your page has ads and youtube and free sites thats a good place to start.

Once complete give us your keywords and we will get you a top ranking like no other.

Ya, I agree with you that a good SERP in the major search engines are not possible without the back linking.
