Great list. Some ideas were new to me, but I may have forgotten an important technique. You can also write press-releses/articles describe the product or service you offer. Leave their online portals PR or send them directly to journalists.

Link Exchanges is the best method for building a link. You can write articles and get them posted on article directories. Another way for exchanging link is post on squidoo dot com for create any number of lenses advertising one or all your websites, its very fast.

Really solid list of 15. I think most newbies should start out with free directory submissions and article writing as it helps them understand the importance of multiple approaches to getting back links vs putting all your eggs in one (few) baskets.

Great list, as others have said - press release sites can be really effective. I use prlog.org it has a high pr and is relatively easy to use. The other reference in to using squidoo the above threads is also a good one, I use hubpages, similiar to squidoo but has the same effect.
