normally bloggers & webmasters try to get links from other sites but they don't take a look on the site that whether the link is dofollow or nofollow.Actually search engines don't give any credit for a link with rel="nofollow" tag.So always try to get links from those sites which don't use nofollow tag for the links in their sites.

you can use the nofollow links in social networks and bookmarkes to get traffic but if these links won't give you a traffic it's not important for your site

Google will not considers the nofollow links for your site. But yahoo considers it. It is always better to get backlinks from dofollow website for our site from relevant cateogies. Also if we check our site backlinks in Google it will be very much less when compared to yahoo.
