...western Union. Should I call cops? I have been IMing a guy thru a dating service for 3 weeks. Lots of love letters from him. We have never spoken on the phone nor have we met in person. He is now out of the country working on a contract deal and needs money to help him buy equipment. He has asked for the money to be sent online thru Western Union. Should I contact the police?

Why calling the police , he didn't make anything illegal when asking for money , it's up to you if you want to honor the request or not . He has the right to ask and you have the right to refuse. He didn't steal from you .

It's entirely up to you, go by your gut feeling. If it seems that he's going to con you then don't send the money, find out who he's working for, what country he is in and what equipment he needs, if it sounds a bit fishy it probably will be.
