It would be better to find a way to replace the graphics card with a higher quality card that is compatible with your laptop.

There is almost no way that your laptop can upgrade to an external graphics card that I know of, short of opening the case, and hoping that the motherboard has a pci-e slot. I don;t think that any dell inspiron has dedicated graphics though.

Any graphics card that is external will be of bad quality.

Put in a pci-e or pci graphics card depending on what slots you have available.

Order of Graphics quality with slots and technology is as follows:
    1. PCI-e - fastest
    2. PCI - slower
    3. AGP - old, expensive and outdated.
