This is not a dissertation about how PR works. What I am talking about is a basic misunderstanding about PR and links in a user generated world. I am on forums and blogs a lot and what is seen is people selling lists of High PR blogs and forums all the time.

Listing a PR associated with a certain blog, forum, or website is often a useless measurement of the value of that link. Right now, you can go on many sites that allow user generated content and make a post or comment that starts out on a high PR page. The problem with this is very simple. The post with your link attached to it will very quickly be moved off that high PR page.

These links quickly end up on a 0 PR page were they will reside. So when you see all of these do follow lists that show PR, you can safely ignore this. User generated sites produce mostly 0 PR links. We have somewhere around 160 posts on our blog and of those and only one post has any PR that’s not on the blogs home page. This is not an isolated situation, it is the norm.

So let me suggest that you save your money and time and focus on blogs and forums that are relevant to your website. Getting permanent links from high PR sites has to be earned; You can not generally acquire these high PR links through user generated content. Let this post be an example, without looking I know it has landed on a 0 PR page.
