Well, I have a site that has little or no content at all (since I haven't started posting contents yet) but gets crawled by SE bots on a regular basis.

As a solution to the main problem, find a site that seems busy with updates and/or is always updating. Then, try to put to that site your links. Doesn't matter if it is dofollow or not. As long as you have your links in there. That busy site gets most of the attention from SE bots which means "priority" (basically, you can identify the site with the highest priority by looking at its PR, the higher the number, the higher the priority). Also, try to look at the URL where you have your URL. Puzzled? Do not. For instance, mysite.com/deep/deeper/deepest/verydeepest.htm is the URL where yousite.com is posted and/or appears. The deeper the URL structure would be, the longer the waiting period.

    Hope it helps.

That's a nice and simple explanation.
