Do Google SiteMaps Help SEO?

I'm assuming Google SiteMaps are good for SEO, but does anyone have specific experience? Also, is it SiteMaps that allow Google to generate those enhanced organic listings with additional site sections? thanks in advance.

Google Sitemap helping in many ways in getting indexed. Submission of sitemap through webmaster tools adding the sitemap url in the robots.txt file can help faster index of a website.

Absolutely. Having your sitemap, as well as robot.txt, is like letting search engines to feed the data coming from your website and its sub-pages.

Sitemaps are good for SEO but they have no impact on organic listings.
Sitemaps are only important for
-Easier navigation for users(HTML sitemap)
-Deep crawling for spiders(XML sitemap)

I have always been a believer that well on-page optimized sites do not require or even benefit much from Google Sitemaps. But at the same time, I also do believe that giving Google extra clues about your site does help. It is something you need to think about. On one hand, by giving Google a sitemap file with all the changes, and a list of your most important pages - you are also giving those details to your competitors. Yes, that Sitemap file is public for Google and for your competitors. It totally depends on your industry.
