you can find there your website pages error, on which keywords ranking you get and on which position, your google backlinks, how many OBL have on your sites, your website crawl rate and etc many more.
this tools really useful for websites.

I agree with the above information and Can someone please tell me how to get my article written in squidoo verified on google webmaster tool? I know how to get the meta tag or the html file. Im just not sure where to put either of them.

Google Webmaster Tools I select a site. If you do that, the first thing you see is the diagnostic tab, with in it an overview of the latest web crawl errors Google encountered.

I use Google Webmaster tools for all of my sites. I just verified one last night in fact, so I can verify that it still works.
