Google buys reCAPTCHA

Good move by Google. So all google applications would now have recaptcha integrated.

reCAPCHA is a company which has providing this services to more than 100,000 websites. As there are many CAPTCHA companies available on the market but Google has choosen them only because they are using a technology that improves the process to convert scanned images into the text format. This technology is known as Optical Character Recognition. Scanning of images in to the plain text is important because easily displayed to visually impaired users, mobile devices.

This will help to keep away spam and other automated software from than 100,000 websites as those websites have now Google powered CAPTCHA technology.

Maybe this will help stop a lot of the spam bots from using gmail accounts. It was announced several months ago that bots have broken the gmail captcha phrase. And after that, the bots started using gmail to activate spam accounts. This caused forum owners a lot of headaches. I have almost banned gmail accounts just because of the spammers.

Also, this deal is supposed to tie in with google books.

Its good move because google has number of products where it can be used

We had a lot of spam comments from spammers using gmail address. Hope this buyout gives spammers a hard time to get through their new captcha codes.

Brilliant move on the part of Google. I saw a report on the kid who invented it. He is very bright and should be producing more great stuff in the future.

True, and google keeps thinking of new ways or policies to fight against spam!
