a student visa? I'm looking to the U.S. for college, and was wondering if there was any way to earn money via online (eBay, e-commerce, etc.) and if it is permitted by law. Would having an online business (even Secondlife) be illegal if you're holding a student visa? I'd like to know.. thanks!

I dont think so you can work in US on student visa. You need either the H1 or F1 to work in US. For H1, you need to search a sponsor for yourself who can sponsor your visa which happens every year in the month of April i.e. 1st April government opens the applications for H1 visa.
On student visa you are only allowed to study here and do your internship.

In United States, students on visa are not allowed to work until and unless they are on their CPT.
And i guess, if you are a full time student, you will not get much time to run a full fledged website and run an online business out of it.
