e-commerce website vs. starting a blog

I am new member. I would think blog is less costly than ecommerce website. but blog is very temporary affair than ecommerce website.

Why not have a wordpress with ecommerce capabilities. You get the SEO, too

Blog = low startup costs, continuous unique content needed

A blog is easier to setup but harder to maintain, an e-commerce website will be harder to setup as you need to invest some money some kind of advertising. But e-commerce site is better to sell products than blogs and a blog is great to promote an e-commerce website and consequently you can indirectly sell more products. e-commerce rules! you won't make any money with a blog.... (more than likley, or very little compared to selling things!)

I think e-commerce sites are better than blogs for selling products online. Blog is better than e-commerce websites to write a person's own stuff. And e-commerce sites and blogs can make their money in their own ways. The two should not be compared in same way.

Blog is easy to creat, when you write several blogs,you can apply google adsense,but if you creat a e-commerce site, if your keyword choose right and have a good position on search engine, you can earn money quickly.

From my experience the e-commerce store will take longer to get up and running but to answer your question I would do both. I would create the e-store to sell the products or services on and use the blog to drive traffic and provide important incoming links to your site. I agree with mgandy.

I also would say that for a blog to be helpful and popular it MUST have unique regular content posted to it that visitors are wanting.

With an ecommerce website there is an initial outlay, time invest to get setup but this is the best way to sell goods.

What are you interested in selling out of interest? As this will help you to decide how you will go about setting up the site, marketing it, etc.
