    Default Loss Prevention Tips

    Hi

    * Identify what potential risks could affect your business during severe weather. Are you near a floodplain or surge zone?

    * Develop Business Interruption Plans and implement mitigation measures to minimize loss of jobs and business activity. Know which employees will be unavailable to work in times of crises because of other obligations - children, parents, etc. Have a back-up business location. Keep up to date emergency phone numbers for employees.

    * Line up alternate vendors for essential supplies and equipment. Have backup equipment and know its availability. Pre-sign contract on these items of neccessity to avoid last-minute rushes.

    * Contact your state or local emergency management office or building official, or FEMA Regional Office for more information on protecting your business through planning ahead.

    * Encourage and support local community prevention efforts that reduce the risk to critical local infrastructures like electricity, water, and roads that are necessary for the continued operation of your business.

    * Promote awareness of Hazard Risk and prevention solutions among your employees, customers, and the public. Set examples by following fire codes and conducting emergency drills like fire drills.

    Thanks

    Hi

    Employee Theft

Statistically, employee theft ranks at the top of the list for theft in the retail store, overpowering shoplifters by a significant margin. There are several ways in which an employee will steal from you.

"Sliding" merchandise is the most common form of employee theft. An employee's family or friends will frequent the store, shop, and go through the employee's checkout line where the employee will pretend to ring up items while actually only ringing up just a couple of the items. Deterring this type of theft is relatively simple. Post rules in your store that no employee may ring up their friends or family without witness of another employee. Additionally, you may decide that friends or family may not be rung up by the employee at all and can instead, chose another check out line.

Another common type of employee theft is "grazing". If you're in a retail store that sells snacks, it is very easy for the employee to pick up a candy bar to snack on while on duty without paying for it. To deter this type of theft, post rules in your store that the employee can not ring himself up. Instead, they need to be rung up by another employee. Additionally, tape the register receipt to the item itself with the ringing cashier's initials written on the item and the receipt, making sure to draw a line through the barcode. This will ensure during random checks that the item the employee has in his possession has been paid for.

    Thanks

    Hello Friends

    1) Effective Management:The management at all levels needs to understand the company's goal of loss prevention, and undertake the same.

    2) Employee Participation:No loss-prevention program can be effective, without the participation of employees. The employees need to be trained in loss prevention methods. You could try enrolling them in loss prevention training classes so they know what to do before, during and after a situation that can cause loss.

    3) Develop a Program:The loss prevention program should have a clear roadmap. You must develop ways to evaluate losses, predict them and avoid them.

    4) Collaborate with other Businesses:In order to prevent losses, you should consider collaborating with other similar small businesses. You can work with other businesses on issues like audit practices, loss evaluation and using statistical ways of tracking trends. You could also collaborate on human resources, operations, risk management and other related issues.

    Thanks
