    Hi

Set up a customer rewards program. We’re all familiar with the customer rewards programs that so many large businesses have in place. But there’s no reason that a small business can’t have a customer rewards program, too. It can be as simple as a discount on a customer’s birthday or as complex as a points system that earns various rewards such as discounts on merchandise. Done right, rewards programs can really help build customer loyalty and increase sales.

    Distribute free samples to customers.

Why do so many businesses include free samples of other products when you buy something from them? Because it can increase sales in so many ways. As the customer who bought the original product, I might try and like the sample of the new product and buy some of it, too. Or I might pass on the sample to someone else, who might try the product, like it, and buy that and other products from the company. At the very least, the original customer will be thinking warm thoughts about your company, and hopefully telling other people about your products.

    Thanks

    1) Advertise More - Just when you may think it's time to cut back the marketing dollars, you should probably be advertising more. It is wise to increase marketing efforts during slower sales periods because there is more competition and fewer consumer dollars. Consider newspaper ads, magazines, specialty publications and other forms of marketing.

    2) Generate a Buzz - Whenever anything noteworthy happens within your business, send a press release to the media. The idea is to grab any free coverage possible. Get involved with community events. Consider hosting classes, meetings or other networking events in your retail store. Use a unique promotional event to generate a buzz about your business.

    3) Examine Your Pricing Strategy - When purchasing and pricing products, be sure you've considered the cost of goods and that your retail shop is able to make a profit at that price point. Your product price should be competitive, but still profitable. Ultimately, the right price is the price the customer is willing to pay for the product.

    1. Align sales force training to the strategic plan Before establishing any sales force training, the strategic plan needs to be reviewed to ensure alignment between the training and the existing plan. If there is not a strategic plan, then the executive management needs to develop a strategic plan immediately. Alignment is critical to the success of any organization especially when establishing goals from sales force training to marketing.

    2. Infuse a proven sales processThe benefit of a proven sales process is in the sales process steps. Clearly defined steps allows individuals to know when to proceed forward during the sales and when to stop. Additionally, a proven sales process helps to make the necessary course corrections not to mention identifying any mis-steps during the selling activity.

    3. Include mentors as part of communication feedbackMentors can provide communication feedback. This tips allows the sales force training participants to share what is working and provide some guidance from those who have more experience.

    4. Develop attitudes and habitsAttitude is everything. Unfortunately in most sales force training, attitudes are not consistently developed. The continued focus on knowledge and skills to improve performance through sales force training while performance failure more often than not is due to poor attitudes and habits demonstrates why most sales force training is ineffective to non-sustainable.

    5. Identify desired results to ensure positive return on investment (ROI)When the sales force training is aligned to the strategic plan, the sales training is immediately aligned to the desired results. If this is not the case for your business, then identify the desired results to include pre-determined benchmarks such as number of leads, number of appointments, number of meetings, number of closes, number of follow-ups and number of referrals.

    6. Schedule training on consecutive weeks Many sales force training engagements are one to two days without reinforcement. Scheduling training and development on a weekly basis for no more than 2 hours each session will increase cognitive retention, provide opportunities for practice and constructive feedback. Research suggests that a one time exposure to a learning event after 16 days delivers 2% cognitive retention while multiple exposures to that same learning event deliver 65% retention. What makes more sense to you?

    7. Combine sales force training with corporate coachingCorporate coaching provides opportunities for continued reinforcement after the initial sales force training or developmental sessions have been completed. Given that research confirms that one on one executive coaching delivers a significant return on investment, including corporate coaching will only increase the return on investment.

Are these the only 7 tips for improved sales force training? No, but they do provide a solid foundation from which to create a high performance sales force.

Design Store for Sales - Take advantage of cross-merchandising strategies and impulse sale opportunities. Use lighting techniques and creative displays to attract customers. Play videos for product education, customer entertainment and any other upsell or promotional tie-in.

Successful selling strategies are more important than ever in this sluggish economy. How do you stay motivated in tough times? Start with boosting your confidence, improving your attitude, and working on your time management skills. Time is money. Then, work on outside factors such as knowing your customer, competition, and your organization. Here are some examples, or 10 tips to increase sales:

    1. Talk less, listen more. Ask questions. Listen for subtle cues as to what your customer wants. For example, when they say, "What I'm looking for is..." That's a buying signal. Listen and take notes verbatim. Put quotes around what they said so that when you talk or write to them again, you can use their exact words, provided your product or service meets their need. Nothing helped me more in becoming a top sales producer than the above mentioned tip to increase sales.

    2. Target people who are your best prospects. Is there a commonality among those people who have purchased from you in the past? What were their needs, similar circumstances, and greatest challenges?

    3. Make yourself well-known as an expert in your field. Write articles. Post them online. Contact editors and get published in newspapers and magazines. Ask your clients for recommendation letters praising your services as a testament to your integrity, customer service and expertise. Nothing speaks louder than others singing your praises!

    4. Start with selling yourself. It's a fact: people buy from people they like. People buy from people considered trustworthy, credible, and honest. Present yourself professionally. Regarding attire, remember the 3 T's: tailored, tasteful, and traditional. Practice a positive attitude. Show up on time. Further educate yourself about your product, your competition, and any possible objections.

    5. Fail forward. If you don't make the sale, or you lose a valued customer, find out why. What needs to be improved? What could be done differently? If you or your company made a mistake, admit it. Learn from it. Then move forward. Don't dwell on it and dig yourself further into defeat.

    6. Communicate your competitive advantage. Like it or not, your potential customer is thinking, "What's in it for me?" And, "What am I going to get out of this?" Once you know their needs, mention both the features AND the benefits to them.

    7. Master and study your core competencies. You're only as strong as your weakest link. What areas do you need to improve? Do you need to improve your time management skills? Do you need to improve technical skills? And, what areas must you absolutely master? For example, maybe you need to spend more time getting to the decision maker. So, work to improve your deficiencies, and master those areas you must excel at to increase sales.

    8. Ask for specific referrals. This is one of the biggest tips to increase sales. Once your client has complimented you on your product/service, ask them who else they know who could benefit. Tell them the kind of clients you're looking for and get specific names, phone numbers, and email addresses. See if they'll talk with that person or make a phone call on your behalf and introduce you.

    9. Practice professionalism and integrity to increase sales. Be a problem solver. If you don't know the answer to a question, admit it. When you lie you die. Let them know when you'll get back to them with the answer and do! People will look to see if you practice what you promise.

    10. Give samples. Give something away free to increase sales. Or, offer something extra as a value-added bonus.

    Outdistance your competitors.

Above all else, ask for the order. And incorporate silence. Practicing silence while your potential client is deciding is often when they say yes! They're uncomfortable with the silence. As a result, they'll often start talking and make a positive decision to fill the space. This is a technique I used frequently when I was honored as the number one sales producer in the history of the company breaking all previous records in the U.S. and Canada for a major Fortune 500 company. That technique...and a lot of patience, persistence, and diligence. Good luck!

    1. Lead with Your Biggest Benefit
What's the biggest benefit you offer to customers? That benefit is your strongest selling appeal. Use it to attract prospects to your promotional message.

State your biggest benefit in the headline of your ads. Put it in the first sentence of your sales letters. Include it in a title at the top of your web page. Use it as the opening of your audio or audio-video promotions. Leading immediately with your biggest benefit captures your prospect's attention and provides a compelling reason to continue reading or listening to your message.

    2. Personalize Your Approach
More people will buy from you when they feel you are talking directly to them about their individual needs. Develop customized versions of your sales message to cater to the specific interests of prospects in each market you target. Use the language and style of prospects in each market to communicate your message to them. One way is to create special web pages for prospects in each market you target. Customize the content of each to appeal to prospects in that group. Then add a link to each of these special pages on your home page.

    3. Provide Specifics
For example, a general statement like, "Our clients get more sales", is dull. It won't produce sales. Replace it with a specific statement like, "Most of our new clients enjoy at least a 17 percent sales increase in the first month". This statement creates excitement. It motivates prospects to sign up now so they can start enjoying that 17 percent increase in THEIR sales.

    4. Dramatize Feelings
Customers usually buy on impulse, not logic. They base their buying decision on how they feel about your product or service. Get them excited about using your product or service and you'll increase your sales.

Revise your ads, sales letters and web pages to dramatize the emotional rewards your customer will experience when using your product or service. Use vivid word pictures to help them imagine themselves already enjoying those benefits. For example, a financial planner could describe what it feels like to enjoy an affluent lifestyle without debt.

Each of these 4 selling tips will help you increase your sales. They produce immediate results. And they won't cost you anything to implement.
