Hi
* Identify what potential risks could affect your business during severe weather. Are you near a floodplain or surge zone?
* Develop Business Interruption Plans and implement mitigation measures to minimize loss of jobs and business activity. Know which employees will be unavailable to work in times of crises because of other obligations - children, parents, etc. Have a back-up business location. Keep up to date emergency phone numbers for employees.
* Line up alternate vendors for essential supplies and equipment. Have backup equipment and know its availability. Pre-sign contract on these items of neccessity to avoid last-minute rushes.
* Contact your state or local emergency management office or building official, or FEMA Regional Office for more information on protecting your business through planning ahead.
* Encourage and support local community prevention efforts that reduce the risk to critical local infrastructures like electricity, water, and roads that are necessary for the continued operation of your business.
* Promote awareness of Hazard Risk and prevention solutions among your employees, customers, and the public. Set examples by following fire codes and conducting emergency drills like fire drills.

Loss Prevention Tips in retail sales:-There are three types of theft in the retail store: Employee Theft, Vendor Theft, and Shoplifters. Whether you own or manage a convenience store, grocery store, or general store, the tips below will help you identify and prevent theft.

Hello,
Actually Retail Loss Prevention is a profession that is responsible for reducing inventory losses inside retail stores. Loss prevention professionals manage in-store security programs that focus on reducing inventory losses due to employee theft, shoplifting, fraud, vendor theft, and accounting errors. Like others in the security industry, retail loss prevention professionals must interact with store personnel and store customers when dishonestly or carelessness occurs. As you can imagine, accusing someone of dishonestly or carelessness is not a small matter and must be done with the utmost care and professionalism.
Hi
Here are more tips....
1) Effective Management:The management at all levels needs to understand the company's goal of loss prevention, and undertake the same.
2) Employee Participation:No loss-prevention program can be effective, without the participation of employees. The employees need to be trained in loss prevention methods. You could try enrolling them in loss prevention training classes so they know what to do before, during and after a situation that can cause loss.
3) Develop a Program:The loss prevention program should have a clear roadmap. You must develop ways to evaluate losses, predict them and avoid them.
4) Collaborate with other Businesses:In order to prevent losses, you should consider collaborating with other similar small businesses. You can work with other businesses on issues like audit practices, loss evaluation and using statistical ways of tracking trends. You could also collaborate on human resources, operations, risk management and other related issues.
Thanks

Here are 5 more retail loss prevention tips that don't require a POS system but I feel they are important...
- Keep the back door closed and alarm it. This is one of the easiest ways for employees to sneak out merchandise.
- Have management inspect the garbage before it's taken out.
- Review security videos on a regular basis. And most importantly, make sure your staff knows you do so.
- If you've ever been robbed blind and don't know who did it, then try NOT to let your employees find out about it.
- On the flip side, if you do bust somebody for stealing something. Let all your employees know that they did NOT get away with it! Sometimes this can be your way to prevent theft and inventory shrinkage.
