    1.
    Step 1

Before you go about finding an email service, you need to look at your company and what it needs. Ask yourself these questions: How many people are in your organization? Will you (or your employees) be sending a lot of attachments? Will you (or your employees) be accessing email from multiple computers and/or hand-held devices? How tech savvy are you? The basic email domain includes five email addresses and a set amount of storage space. Even if you are the only one in your company, you might want to have an email for sales, billing and other departments. In addition to knowing the amount of addresses you need, storage space can become an issue if you need to save all your email (and you should) and send a lot of attachments with high end graphics.
    2.
    Step 2

Go to your favorite search engine and type "Email hosting" in the search box.
    3.
    Step 3

Using the results from your web search, research different companies and the options that they offer. If you are not tech savvy, it might be worth it to you to spend a little more money per month and find a company that offers good tech support.
    4.
    Step 4

Call the sales department at all the companies before you make your choice to find out any other deals or options the company offers that are not on the website. Be sure that the email is POP3 compatible (if you want to use any email programs like Microsoft Outlook or Lotus Notes), and will work on all devices you want to read email, including Blackberries and iPhones (if applicable).
    5.
    Step 5

Make your choice and set up your email.
    6.
    Step 6

Send a test email to a friend to make sure it works. Call tech support if you have any problems.

    1. Always do your research, find out who your target market is and where they are. There is no point in starting up a business if you don't know where your target market or target audience is, let alone if you actually have one or not!
    2. Get your finance in order. Make sure you have all of your business finance in order from the second your start. Even if you have not had finance or do not require finance, it is always wise to check your finances at the end of every week, just to make sure your figures add up and work out.

    3. Plan until the cows home if you want but remember to put it into action. Planning is essential in starting and running your own business, but not half as important as actually putting your plans into action, so please remember once you have completed a plan or plans whether it be a marketing plan or sales plan....PUT IT INTO ACTION.

    4. Take some time out and schedule in regular breaks. Having breaks will make both your business and you as an individual a lot more productive. So while setting up your business remember to take regular short breaks! You will see the benefit in the long run.

    5. Make sure you have your business registered and all legal. For example if you are setting up a home based business make sure you have followed all laws/regulations and procedures with regards to working from your home.

    6. Ensure you have all of your books in place and ready to go. Starting a business and not having at least some basic book keeping practices in place is a recipe for disaster, so from the minute you start up/begin trading please make sure you have all of your sales ledgers, purchase ledgers, stationary and anything else in order and in place ready for action.

    7. Make sure your friends and family are behind you 100%. Having family support is sometimes as good as having financial support so make sure your family, friends and loved ones are fully committed and behind you and your business. You will need them to help you and your business be successful.

You may already be using and touting the virtues of web-based e-mail for your business. But too often, we see messages from business contacts with addresses like gmail.com, or hotmail.com. While functionally for the user this approach offers the same benefits as what I'll discuss below, to the outside world, using a free web e-mail account to do business may seem unprofessional.
It used to be a Catch 22. You want to look professional with a domain-based e-mail address, but POP3 e-mail was often limited to desktop-based clients like Outlook that you could only use effectively from the one computer where it was configured to send and receive mail.
Gmail is one of the first web-based services to change all that, and by most measures, it's still the best. Now you can use your professional POP3 domain e-mail address on the web, from any internet connection, including your mobile.
