Default Effective ways to reduce your business costs??

    Hello Friends

1)Network:Try networking your business with other businesses. You could trade leads or mailing lists. This will cut down on your marketing and advertising costs. You may also try bartering goods and services with them.

2)Wholesale/Bulk:You'll save money buying your business supplies in bulk quantities. You could get a membership at a wholesale warehouse or buy them through a mail order wholesaler. Buy the supplies you are always running out of.

3)Borrow/Rent:Have you ever purchased business equipment you only needed for a small period of time? You could have just borrowed the equipment from someone else or rented the equipment from a "rent-all" store.

4)Online/Offline Auctions:You can find lower prices on business supplies and equipment at online and offline auctions. I'm not saying all the time, but before you go pay retail for these items try bidding on them first.

5)Plan Ahead:Make a list of business supplies or equipment you'll need in the future. Keep an eye out for stores that have big sales. Purchase the supplies when they go on sale before you need them.

6)Negotiate:You should always try negotiate a lower price for any business equipment or supplies. It doesn't hurt to try. Pretend you are talking to a salesman at a car lot.

7)Search:You can always be searching for new suppliers for your business supplies and equipment. Look for suppliers with lower prices and better quality. Don't just be satisfied with a few.

    Have a nice day

    Hi

    1. Cost cutting needs to be managed carefully. While eliminating wasteful activities is clearly beneficial, indiscriminate cost cutting can lead to a reduction in the quality of your products and services, which could result in your losing sales. Cutting costs by too much - or in the wrong areas of your business - can also lead to poor morale among employees.
    2. Take a careful look at existing costs in all areas. You need to examine regularly every aspect of your business operations to identify where your attention should be focused. Quick and easy savings are commonly made in staffing, raw materials and supplies, utility bills for energy and water, capital expenditure, other purchases (eg consultancy services and advertising space), premises, telecoms, travel, transport and financing.
    3. Eliminate unnecessary costs. Persuade your staff to focus on energy efficiency and adopt simple housekeeping measures. Cut unnecessary waste, such as unused phone lines or heating empty premises at night. Reduce the use of first class mail when an email or fax will do. Use IT to replace time-consuming paper-based systems.

    Thanks

    Hello
1.Look at more at cost effective ways to market your business.

E-marketing is a very powerful and cost effective way to market your business. It enables you to send out newsletters, mailshots, special offers and loyalty schemes directly to your customers via their email address at no extra cost, you save on postage and/or printing costs too. It also encourages them back to your website to see what other services you offer. The only investment is the time needed to design your promotional e-mail material it is so simple!

2.Invest in an on-line business management tool to help you save time and money .

Using a business management system that offers an ‘on-line diary feature’ to enable your customer’s access to book their appointments direct is a great way to reduce down the volume of calls and work generated for reception cover. Business tools to analyse the productivity of your staff against work load and business demand are a useful way to ensure that your business is running efficiently and recruitment of staff is being spent wisely.

    3. Ensure that your business software is not costing you in the long run in hidden costs.

Check that you are not tied into lengthy maintenance & costly technical support contracts for your business software. There are a few companies now that offer business software on-line, saving you in set up fees, annual subscriptions, free maintenance and technical backup as well as data protection. You automatically get free upgrades to keep your software up to date and switching over could not be simpler. You just register and pay on line and you will be up a running within hours not days. You also have technical support via email or phone so help is at hand as and when you might need it.

    Hello,

Choosing the best calling plan for your small business is an important task. Every penny saved on long distance can be applied elsewhere to your business operation. Do you dread the thought of switching your small business long distance because of past bad experiences or confusion over how to choose the best calling plan? The following are tips on how to choose the best small business phone plan for your business:
    1. Read the Small Print: Don't be focused on the per minute rate and ignore the hidden fees in the fine print. Read the small print if you come across something you don't understand, ask what it means and don't stop asking until you get an answer.
    2. Term Contract: In 98% of the cases, you should not sign any type of contract which will lock you into a specific calling plan for any length of time. The exception to this would be if you have a large business set up on a T-1 or if you spend thousands of dollars a month in small business long distance. In this situation you might be asked to sign a contract to receive a rate of a few cents per minute. If you do sign a contract, be aware of what your penalty will be to terminate the contract early. Most likely, it will cost you thousands of dollars to terminate the contract.
    3. Rate Increases: Do not sign a term contract to "lock in", unless you are on a T-1 or spending thousands of dollars a month, you should be able to get a permanent locked in rate without having to sign a contract. Many reputable small business long distance carriers will do everything they can to keep you at the same rate you had when you signed up even if they have a rate increase later, all without you signing a term commitment.
    4. Monthly Minimums: Having a monthly minimum to receive a low per minute rate is no problem unless you don't meet that minimum every month. If your plan has a $100.00 monthly minimum and your small business long distance bill is only $75.00, you will still be billed $100.00 for that month.
    5. Toll-Free Numbers: A toll-free number for your business is a smart business decision. It invites existing and potential customers to call you at no cost to them. Learn if your incoming per minute rate on the toll free is higher than your outgoing rate. Check to see what the charge will be for someone calling you from a payphone and what the billing increments will be for incoming calls. If you currently have a toll free number, you will be asked to fill out a "Responsible Organization" form that will give your current small business long distance carrier instructions to release your toll free number to your new carrier.

    Hello,

    1. PICC: PICC (Pre-subscribed Interexchange Carrier Charge) is a Federally mandated charge that every business line customer must pay based on the number of and types of phone lines. The PICC varies between carriers but in no circumstance should you pay more than $4.50 per line.
    2. USF Fee: USF (Universal Service Fund) is a fee on certain long distance services to offset a company's mandatory payment into the Federal Universal Service Fund. You will be charged a USF fee on state-to-state and international calls only. A small business long distance carrier cannot legally charge a USF fee on your in-state long distance calls. The USF fee varies between long distance carriers but in no circumstance should you pay more than 10% for the USF. Read more about the USF at the FCC website.
    3. Calling Cards: If you or your staff will be using a calling card, make sure you know what the per minute rate is and what the charge is for using the calling card from a payphone. If there is a connection charge for the card it will apply for any call that connects even to a pager, cell phone, voice mail, etc.
When giving cards to employees, it's a good idea to use the calling card issued to you from your small business long distance carrier and not use a pre-paid card. Using a pre-paid card will not provide you with a paper statement to see when the card was used and whether the card was used for business purposes.
    4. International Business Calls: Call a land-line phone instead of calling to a cell phone. Overseas carriers have been increasing the charge to call a mobile device and then passing on the rate increase to the carriers in the United States.

    Thanks & Regards
    Chris

    Hello,

    Here are some more tips.
    1. Improve Quality: not stresses::-- how good quality is a prerequisite to making lean work. He even speaks about things like control charts which you don’t find mentioned in many lean books.
    2. Improve Productivity: Productivity improves when less input produces more output. The book stresses how freed up human resources should be used for more kaizen (not fired).
    3. Reduce Inventory: Inventory can be nasty stuff if not controlled. It takes up space, slows cash flow, and all kinds of other nasty things.
    4. Shorten the Production Line: Long, football field like, assembly lines need to go. When shortened we reduce all kinds of muda (i.e. transportation, motion, waiting, etc.).
    5. Reduce Machine Downtime: Next to quality, Imai stresses an excellent Total Productive Maintenance program is essential to TPS. Like jidoka, TPM doesn’t seem to get the love it deserves from western lean practitioners. Not sexy enough I guess. Funny I mention this lack of love since I just realized I have never blogged extensively about TPM before. Guess I just found my next series topic!
    6. Reduce Space: Imai estimates that most manufacturing companies use four times as much space as needed. Like long production lines using too much space invites muda (i.e. inventory) to come. When we free up space we should aim to add more capacity after getting after our sales force to get us some more business!
    7. Reduce Lead Time: This is perhaps the funnest aspect of lean. We simply determine the time it takes between getting an order and collecting payment for the finished product… and then shorten it. Once we shorten it we do it again, and again, and again. And that, my good friends, is what this stuff called lean manufacturing is all about.

    Thank you

    4. Crack down on excessive costs. Set a good example from the top, to encourage staff to support your cost-cutting measures. Ban wasteful luxuries, such as full-fare business class flights, and make it clear that all business expenses must be legitimate.
    5. Root out inefficiency. Avoid making frequent small orders where possible. These waste time and might mean you lose out on discounts. Check your supplier invoices for overcharging - common examples include double billing and missing out on discounts. You should also consider switching to single monthly invoicing to cut processing and administration costs.
